2. What is 3D/4D ultrasound?

3D ultrasound allows you to see beautiful quality photos of your baby that vastly surpass the traditional 2D images. Ultrasound in the forth dimension provides a real-time movie of your baby. This advanced technology allows you to see your baby moving live, including yawning, stretching, thumb sucking, etc. should your baby choose to share.

3. Is 3D/4D ultrasound safe?

Ultrasound has been used in pregnancy for nearly 30 years and medical research has found no harmful side effects. We at SEE ME 3D support informed consent and encourage you to visit the following link to form your own opinion.

4. When is the best time for 3D/4D ultrasound?

Images can be obtained between 20-36 weeks of pregnancy. During earlier stages of pregnancy (20-24 weeks) facial features are not as well developed; however, you will likely see the entire baby’s body in the image frame and much more baby movement. During later stages of pregnancy, more fat deposits have been laid down allowing you to see more prominent facial features, but less of the baby’s activities. We recommend that you have your session between 25-33 weeks. Full-figured mothers should make an appointment for 32-35 weeks. If you are carrying twins, we recommend you come between 21-24 weeks of pregnancy when there is ample fluid.

5. Can SEE ME 3D guarantee good images for every session?

Many factors can affect 3D ultrasound image quality including the baby’s position, the amount of amniotic fluid, location of placenta, and maternal size. For these reasons SEE ME 3D cannot guarantee image quality. However, we are committed to spending enough time with each client and make every possible effort to obtain high quality images. If quality images of the face cannot be obtained during the session we will arrange for another at no additional cost.

6. Do I need to prepare for my 3D ultrasound?

We recommend that you drink plenty of fluids in the days leading to your appointment to ensure hydration and therefore, increased amniotic fluid. This will help in obtaining high quality images. We also recommend that you eat something sweet 15 minutes before your appointment to get the baby active.

7. Can you determine the gender of the baby?

Yes! Gender assessment can be done after 20 weeks of pregnancy and is included in all of our packages. If the sonographer cannot determine the baby’s gender due to poor fetal positioning a repeat session is offered at no additional charge.

8. Who performs the 3D ultrasound session?

Your 3D ultrasound session will be performed by one of SEE ME 3D’s highly experienced and licensed sonographers who has particular knowledge in obstetrics. All of our sonographers are accredited with ARDMS/CARDUP.

9. Do I need an appointment and a referral from my Doctor/Midwife?

An appointment is necessary. It is recommended to make an appointment as soon as possible. Evening and weekend appointments do fill up quickly. This is a non-diagnostic ultrasound so a referral from your doctor/midwife is not necessary. You will need to have done a routine anatomy scan between 18-22 weeks and have had met with your doctor/midwife to discuss the results of that scan prior to your SEE ME 3D imaging session. Please note you must be under the care of a health care provider to use our services at SEE ME 3D.

10. Can friends and family come to my appointment?

Yes! We encourage that you bring friends and family. This is an exciting time in your life and we at SEE ME 3D would love for you to share it with your loved ones. You have the option of allowing them in the ultrasound room with you or they can view the session from our Family Viewing Room.
